So, you've heard that you can use Google Sketchup for designing buildings in Minecraft using my Block Pack, but have no idea how to do any of that? Well, get downloading, because you've come to the right place.

So one of the more important parts of designing anything is having a viable way to do it and easily make changes. With that in mind, I've created a Sketchup component - uploaded to the 3d warehouse. It's using my textures  because I'll be using it too and don't like the default. You'll need an understanding of Sketchup, which is pretty easy to obtain. I'll be posting some tutorials specific to this application, but for now, those should tide you over. Download!

Tutorial: How to build a Warcraft 2-style Tower

Tutorial (Part 3): How to Make Your Own Texture Pack

 In Part 1 , I showed you how to extract files from your copy of Minecraft and talked a little bit about what they do and getting set up.
In Part 2, I explained how to use some of the features of GIMP to do anything.
This is Part 3, and in it we're going to actually start making textures (or at least, try to make A texture).

As a disclaimer, this takes some artistic capability as well as functional knowledge of the tools. I can only give you knowledge, not ability.

In Part 1, I showed you how to get the texture files you'll need out of Minecraft, and instructed you to go and get GIMP. If you haven't gotten GIMP yet, go do so, or use your copy of Photoshop or equivalent texture-editing software. Making texture packs isn't actually that difficult. Really, all it takes is a good idea, and a knowledge of the tools you'll need to use to make it. This tutorial will attempt to teach you to use an open-source image editing program to make your own texture pack, from getting the files you need to using the available tools to make changes.
