Tutorial: How to build a Warcraft 1-style Barracks

Yay, new content! It's been a longish summer, but I'm back! And I've got work to do on my textures with all this 1.8 non-sense. Perhaps I'll make some of the structures in 1.8 once I get a chance to find them and post them as Sketchup models...

But anyway, this is the barracks from Warcraft 1; it's incredibly easy to build (compared to my other buildings), use your favorite stone, half-stone, and color of wool (or contrasting stone/dirt). This makes a great early base or Nether base, since it's entirely enclosed. You figure out what needs to go inside, but I've fit a good cobble generator, a mushroom farm (under the floor), storage, and a well with room to spare. Then I planted trees on the roof and had a tree farm too.

Enjoy!

Tutorial: How to Build Walls

For all of your castle-building needs! These walls aren't strictly from any Warcraft- like many of my other builds, but they should go well with the Warcraft 2-style towers. And I should mention; this isn't really about building multiple sorts of walls, but rather, building every wall connection you could want with a fairly complex wall (i.e.: A straight wall and its matching 90* turn).

Tutorial: Warcraft 2 Mage Tower

I've just finished designing (using my sketchup components ) a Warcraft 2 Mage Tower. It's 33 high (slightly higher than the top of the flag on the Scout Tower), and fits into a 27x27 block area. I drew it using smooth stone, half-stone blocks, lava, and blue wool; you can substitute any color you choose (though I'd recommend using something that has a fire-proof equivalent - the lava coming from the sphere up top might ignite the whole thing otherwise) to match your scout/cannon towers as well.

Tutorial: How to build a Warcraft 2-style Cannon Tower

Here is the quick pixel-plan for how to build a cannon-tower. You'll notice it's pretty similar to the Scout tower - in fact, the image used for the scout tower is a cannon tower. There are some bits missing or unclear in the pixel plan, and so I recommend looking at one of the other files available so you can get a better idea of what's going on. You can still build the shell with the plan though.

The plan for it actually works (it shoots!); an omni-cannon fits inside. If you look at the sketchup plan, you will see the parts and pieces.

Alternatively, you can download the schematic file.

Tutorial: How to Use Sketchup to Design Buildings in Minecraft

Go to the Google 3D Warehouse and download the pack and get started!
So, you've heard that you can use Google Sketchup for designing buildings in Minecraft using my Block Pack, but have no idea how to do any of that? Well, get downloading, because you've come to the right place.

Sketchup Components for Minecraft Models!

So one of the more important parts of designing anything is having a viable way to do it and easily make changes. With that in mind, I've created a Sketchup component - uploaded to the 3d warehouse. It's using my textures  because I'll be using it too and don't like the default. You'll need an understanding of Sketchup, which is pretty easy to obtain. I'll be posting some tutorials specific to this application, but for now, those should tide you over. Download!

Tutorial: How to build a Warcraft 2-style Tower

I promised last week I'd have plans, and I've got the first part of them ready. I'll post with more plans later (and possibly 3d models, schematics, and other goodies), but for now, here is the plan for how to build a Warcraft II - style Scout tower - In Minecraft!

This plan will look slightly different than these pictures, as these are of the Cannon tower (that works!), which I'll explain later
